The "Write Field" Winners

Here are some of the winning essays in the Boston Globe and John Hancock All-Star FanFest's "Write Field Baseball Short Story Contest."

The contest was open to students in grades 4-12. In all, 11 winners were selected in three grade divisions. There were more than 140 entries received in the contest, which was judged by members of the Boston Globe and Major League Baseball.

Three winners were named in grades 4-6, and four winners each were selected in grades 7-9 and 10-12. Winners have been invited to the John Hancock All-Star FanFest Monday to receive an autographed baseball by home run king Hank Aaron.
