Stands tall at the plate
The crowd is on their feet
They can hardly wait.
The pitcher throws the ball
With a blurring fling
The homerun hitter makes contact
He has an effortless swing.
The ball sails deep
And out of Fenway park
Fans swarm upon it
Like a hungry shark.
As he trots
Around the bases
He sees smiles cross
A thousand faces.
I am in the crowd
My cheers fill the air
The homerun hitter
Has such a special flair.
As he crosses home plate
He is now in plain view
He's got my eyes, my nose,
And my smile too.
He trots into the dugout
And suddenly I am there
His uniform barely fits
There's no room to spare.
The coach turns to me
"Nice hit!" he says with a grin
And then I awaken
School's out, its summer again.
