AL 11, NL 9
Like Ted Williams in 1946, the stars of the game delighted their home fans. Cleveland's Al Rosen (5), Larry Doby (1) and Bobby Avila (2) had eight RBI in an 11-9 win. Rosen's two successive homers and five RBI tied records. The game also set marks for combined runs, hits (31) and gross gate receipts. The decisive hit was a bases-loaded blooper by the White Sox' Nellie Fox, driving in two runs to break a 9-9 tie.
