The All-Star Game was a perfect reflection of a season when Boston's Carl Yastrzemski became the batting champion with the lowest average ever (.301). The lack of offense was magnified by the game's being in baseball's toughest park for hitters, the Houston Astrodome. The National League won this first indoor game 1-0 on an unearned run as the teams combined for just eight hits, the fewest in any nine-inning All-Star Game.
