Whether it's the calming warmth of a paraffin mask being gently brushed on your face or the fun of getting a fancy up-do and a manicure, Blaine's student clinics have plenty of treats on the menu. The student discounts at the school's two esthetics and three salon clinics will get even better this spring. By paying $10 to join the new Blaine Beauty Club, members will get 20 percent to 50 percent off clinic prices and can attend beauty care workshops free.

Fans of the esthetics clinics go for the restful atmosphere and spa-style rejuvenation, which includes massage, body wraps, waxing, and aromatherapy. Somerville comedian Dana Rubin and his mother, Sandra, like the European facials. "Everyone is so nice. It's very relaxing, soothing, cathartic," says Rubin.

At the busy salon clinics, which offer hair care and makeovers, students "do a wonderful job," says vocalist Constance Murphy of Boston, a regular for 15 years. "They give you individual attention. They take their time." Some of the city's most in-demand stylists are Blaine alumni, including Mario Russo and Vincent Cox, who both have Newbury Street salons. You never know which student will be the area's next salon sensation.
