Monster Board
The Monster Board is a large, well-known site that has gotten good reviews by publications such as PC Computing and Internet World. It is often associated with its many great links and features for college students. It seems like a beneficial place to post a resume, since member companies include some big names like Hewlett-Packard Professional Services, Motorola, Compaq, and Bay Services. However, members may be limited to the bigger names because of the bigger fees employers pay to receive a specific number of resumes. Most services that charge employers let them search the databases themselves. The Cost:
The Resume:
- No charge to upload your resume.
- Membership costs a corporation $500 per year, and costs a contract firm $1,200 per year. Both memberships include 20 resumes, with an additional 10 resumes for $150, 20 for $250, 30 for $300, and 50 for $500.
Go to Monster Board
- Basic resume form to fill outcurrent and previous job descriptions, technical and nontechnical skills posted at Resume City.
- Your resume stays posted for one year. You can update it whenever you want, and every time you make an update your resume is automatically renewed for another year. You can update your resume at any time using a personal password.
- You may specify a list of employers that aren't allowed to see your resume.
- Resume City does not give your contact information to employers until their search matches up with your qualifications and they have purchased your resume.
- You have the option of attaching your electronic resume to e-mail addresses of employers in the job listings section yourself.
- Take a glance at the section entitled "How Resume City Works" to see how employers will view the finished product, so when you fill out the Monster Board's simple form, you can use it to your advantage.
Online Career Center
Online Career Center boasts a database of 25,000-plus resumes. Any company with access to the Internet can access this database at no charge, and it is even available on America Online in the Career Center and on eWorld. This site is beneficial because of its accessibility, but not if you are looking for confidentiality. The Cost:
The Resume:
- No charge to upload your resume. But if you have to send it by regular mail, there is a $10 fee for up to 3 pages.
- There is a charge to employers for searching the database.
Go to Online Career Center
- No form to fill out. You e-mail your resume in ASCII format (or send it US mail with a fee).
- It stays posted for 90 days. Only one resume is allowed per e-mail addressee, so you can update it at any time and the old resume is automatically deleted and the updated version is renewed for another 90 days.
- Note that the subject line of your e-mail to this bank is the first line viewed by employers. Whether they search by state or keyword, employers see a list of those subject lines as links to resumes, so make this line good.
- See the article on "How to Write Electronic Resumes" for tips on such things as keywords and design, and view some of the samples offered. Search the resumes yourself and get ideas about what looks good and what doesn't.
- Online Career Center has some really good resources for college students toocheck out the sample resumes from the alumni of various universities.

The Resume:
- No charge to upload your resume.
- No charge to employers for searching the database.
Go to Tripod
- Tripod's resume form appears more detailed than some, asking, for example, about your activities and honors. Yet it doesn't seem to give as much attention to technical/nontechnical skills as does Monster Board.
- Tripod allows you the option of creating your own URL, the option of creating a paragraph of personal information and even the option to send in a photo of yourself.
- Each section of the resume form is linked to tips and ideas for its content.
- The resumes in the database are in a much cleaner, better-looking format than some of the other banks that just post them in ASCII format. (For example, these are set up with bolded titles, indents, etc.)
- Besides getting posted on Tripod's searchable database, you get the choice of circulating it on the Internet's Online Career Center, the Interactive Employment Network, and/or the Monster Board as well.
- A reference is made to the Tripod Confidential CareerFile, an off-line database, where employers pay Tripod to search the resumes by qualifications, keywords, etc. and then gets your contact information from Tripod after you give your consent for its release. However, there doesn't seem to be any other reference or link to information about this database anywhere, such as anyplace to select this option, or anyplace that outlines what the cost is to the employer.
Interactive Employment Network
The Employment Network boasts that it is the largest employment database in the world with the largest circulation, which is believable. The site is very professional and the staff, knowledgeable. EagleView uses a lot of new technology to save both the employers and candidates time on the tedious work of scheduling and conducting prescreening interviews. You do, however need to use a software, SelectCandidate Profile, which you can either download from their website, or request on diskette from them. You also have an option of presenting yourself "in person" via an audio/video interview by visiting an EagleView location in person to digitally record a Question and Answer interview session. The Cost:

- Subscriber companies need to pay annual and placement fees based on company size.
Go to EagleView

- No charge to upload your resume.
- No charge to employers to search the database.
Go to World Wide Resume
- The resume form is two parts: your contact information, and a section entitled "what you would like to tell your prospective employer."

Resumes On-Line
Resumes are in a nice format, but the site itself is small, and it's not free. It doesn't seem to have anything that the other sites don't.The Cost:

Go to Resume Management
- They post your resume on the Online Career Center's database . Check out Online Career Center instead.
A+ Online Resumes
Looks like a small site, but Online Resumes claims it is not accessed by surfers or browsers as much as by the business, personnel, and human resources organizations actively solicited. Check out the guestbook to see what kind of companies have visited this site; some are MacTemps, Bell Atlantic, Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceuticals, and lots of computer consultants and technical services. The Cost:
The Resume:

- They will hyperlink your e-mail address on the resume at no extra charge.
Hypermedia Resumes
Looks like a good site by a company called Internet Executive Professionals. Check out some of the resumes in the search, and you'll find that they look like theyve been carefully set up. Go to Hypermedia Resumes
- No form; resume submitted in ASCII file.

Netconnect World Wide Web Resume
This site is not a bank; you get your resume with its own URL. See their sample resume, it has some useless stuff on it, and may be most appealing to graphic design professionals. Those in other professions may prefer to go directly to the databases and have a more straightforward resume posted. The Cost:
The Resume:
- $20 to post first page of resume, additional pages $10 each, plus $5 a month with a 6 month minimum. A $20 one time fee for posting on other databases around the world if you want. You notify them of updates whenever you want, and after 6 months you can extend the posting. Charges go up with excessive kilobytes used.
