Alexander Filipov, 70, of Concord: Canadian-born electrical engineer. He changed planes at the last minute. He was a deacon at the Trinitian Congregational Church in Concord, and as a young man he helped map the Canadian North. His son, David, is the Globe's Moscow bureau chief.
