Kristen McQuarrie
COVENTRY, R.I.
Piles of concert ticket stubs were carefully stacked up on a bookshelf in Kristen McQuarrie's living room. The tickets were keepsakes from shows that McQuarrie, a waitress at Foxwoods Casino, had attended over the years.
"That was really her big hobby; she just loved going to concerts," said Agnes McQuarrie, her former mother-in-law. "They found her pocketbook with her remains, and there were tickets to another concert in it."
McQuarrie, 37, especially liked bands that were popular in the 1970s and '80s.
"That was her music; it was from her time," Agnes McQuarrie said.
McQuarrie lived in Coventry, R.I., and commuted to work at the casino in Connecticut. "She really enjoyed her job," Agnes McQuarrie said. "All of the girls there loved her."
Friends said two shuttle bus loads of workers from the casino who knew Kristen McQuarrie arranged to attend her funeral last weekend.
She had two children with David A. McQuarrie Sr., whom she married just after high school. They divorced after seven years, but the families remained close, Agnes McQuarrie said.
"She was the kind of person who, if she made friends with you when she was young, she would stay your friend for the rest of her life," Agnes McQuarrie said. "She was a really warm person."
McQuarrie grew up in Saugus and Lynn, where her mother, Judith Carver, lives.
