Leigh Ann Moreau, 21, went to The Station last Thursday in hopes of meeting up with friends, fellow graduates of Classical High School in Providence she hadn't seen in quite a while.
"They had all gone off to different colleges around New England, and wanted to catch up with each other," said Louis Toro, a guidance counselor at the high school who has spoken to several of them. "Some were delayed and never got there, perhaps because of the snow. One girl escaped through a window. The whole thing, it's just a sin."
Moreau earned a bachelor's degree in art therapy from Springfield College and had been accepted to several graduate schools.
"I remember the day she came into my office and asked, `Mr. Toro, how do I blend psychology and helping kids?'," Toro said. "We did an online search and found out about art therapy. She was so excited. She wanted to help children who had been abused."
A funeral for Moreau will be held this morning at the William W. Tripp Funeral Home in Pawtucket, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church.
