Stacie J. Angers, 29, of Worcester, was rarely without a camera, and if she snapped your picture, no matter how off-the-cuff or how many people gathered around, you'd get a copy, though it might take a while.
"She would hoard them all year long. It would drive us crazy," said her good friend, Wendy Grossman, an instructional aide in Auburn, where Angers grew up. "But if there were five people in the picture, she would make five copies. I don't know how she kept them all straight. But they'd always be there in our Christmas cards."
In their circle of friends, Angers was "the glue" that bound the gang together, Grossman said. A vivacious, quick-witted woman, she would organize the casual nights out and make plans for more ambitious get-togethers down the road.
"She made time for everyone, and she loved to have fun," Grossman said. "I don't know what we are going to do without her."
Coming of age in the 1980s, Angers loved the heavy-metal bands of that era, and went to see them as often as she could, Grossman said.
A private investigator, Angers graduated magna cum laude in 1995 from Anna Maria College in Paxton. Eric Gustafson, a spokesman for the school, said her teachers remembered her as an excellent student who was "driven to succeed and passionate about her field" of criminal justice.
"She ended up living her dream," he said.
Angers was to be married in August 2004 to her fiance, Michael Wunschel of Worcester. Grossman was to be her maid of honor.
"She was like a sister to me," she said. "She was truly someone you could confide in; she was there in good times and bad. She was my life. There's no one to take her place."
