Bradley ad barrage brings a response

ust before Thanksgiving, Bill Bradley's campaign for president made a huge investment in Boston television, hoping to beam into southern New Hampshire and to shore up his support among voters.

Not to be outdone, Al Gore's campaign has hit the air in Boston this weekend with two new 30-second ads costing about $100,000 per week - about one-third of Bradley's buy. One is a biographical spot, while the other denounces school vouchers in a veiled dig at Bradley.

''I think it would be a big mistake to drain money away from our public schools with vouchers that give public money to private schools,'' Gore said, adding that now is the time when ''we ought to be really beefing up our public schools.''

While in the Senate, Bradley voted several times to establish trial voucher programs.
