ALTIMORE - The Democratic presidential campaign has reached ''a sad day,'' Bill Bradley said yesterday, charging that Vice President Al Gore is deliberately falsifying Bradley's positions on health care reform and Social Security. ''The vice president and I are both Democrats. Social Security is one of the crown jewels of the progressive Democratic party. As Democrats that's what we're for,'' Bradley said, his voice rising in a speech to the National Black Caucus of State Legislators. ''So I ask you, why is one Democrat attacking another Democrat on one of our party's articles of faith?'' (AP)
Bradley health plan draws Gore's ire
FORT DODGE, Iowa - Tailoring his assault on his rival's health care plan to fit the audience, Vice President Al Gore warned seniors yesterday that Bill Bradley's proposal would spark ''a massive financial crisis'' and threaten their nursing home care.''Iowa is more affected by this than any other state,'' Gore told about 200 seniors.
