BERKELEY, Calif. -- Senator Bill Bradley today announced the cancellation of his afternoon schedule in California and his Saturday schedule in Washington State in order to receive treatment for atrial fibrillation, better known as an irregular heartbeat. Atrial fibrillation is a common medical condition shared by some two million Americans, including former President George Bush while he was in the White House.

The Bradley campaign has also released results of a regular physical examination which the Senator underwent on December 3, 1999. Other than the arrhythmia, which according to his physician "does not, in any way, interfere with [Senator Bradley's] ability to function," he has no other health issues. Senator Bradley will resume his regular campaign schedule on Sunday in Florida speaking to the Florida Democratic Party convention.
