Gore allies get top posts at DNC
Associated Press, January 24, 1999
WASHINGTON -- Three of Al Gore's political allies joined the leadership of
the Democratic National Committee yesterday as the vice president prepares for
the 2000 presidential campaign. Joseph Andrew, chairman of the Indiana
Democratic Party and the DNC's convention site selection committee, replaces
Steve Grossman as national chairman. Grossman resigned Dec. 2 to spend more
time with his family. Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer and California
Representative Loretta Sanchez will co-chair the committee. Governor Roy Romer
of Colorado, Grossman's co-chairman and the party's main spokesman, continues
in that capacity.
