epublican presidential hopeful John McCain yesterday challenged Vice President Al Gore to a debate over the merits of the nuclear test ban treaty rejected last week by the Senate. Appearing on NBC's ''Meet the Press,'' McCain accused President Clinton and Gore of politicizing the treaty issue. The Arizona senator criticized Gore for running a television ad denouncing Senate Republicans for their rejection of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. (Reuters)
