Miami's flooding cuts into Clinton's debate-watching

ACKSONSVILLE, Fla. - ''I feel a little jinxed,'' President Clinton said.

He was soaked by torrential rains in Miami, had to slog through puddles, missed a fund-raiser when Air Force One was grounded, and could not see half of the presidential debate because cable television was knocked out in his hotel on Tuesday.

To top it off, his limousine broke down in Jacksonville yesterday, stuck as a mechanic tried unsuccessfully to fix it. The president jumped into a spare limousine for a hop to the airport and his ride home.

In Miami, the president had waited for an hour Tuesday evening on Air Force One in hopes of getting to a fund-raising event on Jupiter Island, Fla. He finally gave up and went to his hotel to watch the presidential debate.

The president got into his limousine and listened to the debate on radio as he was driven to the home of Chris and Irene Korge, who had hosted a fund-raiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton earlier in the day. The president watched the rest of the debate in the Korges' den.
