ASHINGTON - Reform Party presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan underwent successful gall bladder surgery yesterday.

Buchanan's gall bladder was removed at Washington Hospital Center, where he was admitted after experiencing repeated episodes of abdominal pain during the last few months, according to his sister Bay Buchanan.

Buchanan had known he had gallstones, and was waiting until after the November election to have them removed. But after an episode of discomfort last week, he decided to have the gallstones removed yesterday. During the surgery doctors decided to remove the entire gall bladder.

He spent one night in the hospital following the surgery.
