Kuerten, Safin: the best leftovers

WHEN: Sept. 26 (singles, doubles).

US ENTRIES: Michael Chang, Todd Martin, Alex O'Brien, Jared Palmer, Vince Spadea, Jeff Tarango.

FAVORITES: Singles: 1. Gustavo Kuerten, Brazil; 2. Magnus Norman, Sweden; 3. Marat Safin, Russia; Doubles: 1. Todd Woodbridge-Mark Woodforde, Australia; 2. Alex O'Brien-Jared Palmer, US; 3. Jiri Nivak-David Rikl, Czech Rep.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR: With Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi back in the States, it's Gustavo Kuerten's to lose. But if Marat Safin can get over his post-Open jet lag, he's the man to beat him. The Woodies (Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde) mine home gold in doubles, with the Yanks settling for silver.
