1933: AL 4, NL 2
Babe Ruth hit a two-run homer in the third inning to drive in the eventual winning run and made the game's best defensive play, a running catch in the eighth of a liner hit by Cincinnati's Chick Hafey. Final score: AL, 4-2. AL manager Connie Mack, who had said his league was out to win, made only one lineup change; NL manager John McGraw used 17 players. The Yankees' Lefty Gomez, who was credited with the victory, drove in the first run in All-Star competition, singling in Jimmy Dykes in the bottom of the second.
