The Cubs' Phil Cavarretta set an All-Star record by reaching safely five straight times -- triple, single, three walks -- as the Nationals won 7-1. Wally Kurowski doubled in a pair of runs. The bright spot for the AL was Yankee pitcher Hank Borowy, who tossed three scoreless innings and drove in his team's only run.
