1956:
NL 7, AL 3
A Cincinnati radio station's campaign to help the fans' vote stirred up controversy when five Reds made the starting lineup and three were runners- up. The fans were vindicated by the NL's 7-3 win. Four of the game's greatest sluggers hit home runs: Willie Mays and Stan Musial for the Nationals, Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle for the Americans.
