In its 50th year the All-Star Game returned to Chicago's Comiskey Park and the American League ended an 11-year losing streak with a 13-3 win. Most of the damage was done in the last of the third, when the AL got an All-Star record six hits and seven runs. Included were a homer by Jim Rice of the Red Sox, a triple by the Royals' George Brett and the first-ever All-Star Game grand slam, by the Angels' Fred Lynn.
