1997:
AL 3, NL 1
Eight AL pitchers allowed only three hits and Sandy Alomar Jr., playing before his home crowd in Cleveland, smacked a two-run homer in a 3-1 AL win. Edgar Martinez, the first player ever voted by fans to start at designated hitter, began the scoring for the AL with a second-inning home run. Javier Lopez homered in the seventh for the NL, temporarily tying the game at 1-1.
