1998: AL 13, NL 8
The two teams scored a record 21 runs, but the AL pulled away with at least one run in each of the last six innings to win 13-8 in the thin air of Denver's Coors Field. The game was still close in the eighth inning when a pair of fine fielding plays robbed the NL of its momentum. The NL had cut the lead to 10-8 and had men on first and second with no outs when Yankee outfielder Paul O'Neill threw Fernando Vina of the Brewers out at the plate. The Indians' Omar Vizquel then turned a smash by Andres Galarraga, a two-time NL RBI champ, into an inning-ending double play. Barry Bonds' three-run homer led the losers.
