The bridge will carry 10 lanes of traffic -- eight lanes on the main span and two lanes cantilevered on its east side (the cantilevered portion is visible in this photo on the left side of the bridge). The asymmetrical design is unique, and presented a special engineering challenge since the east side of the bridge carries more weight than the west.
