1986:
AL 3, NL 2
A two-run homer by Lou Whitaker and a solo shot by Frank White provided all the runs the AL needed to win 3-2 in Houston. AL starter Roger Clemens of the Red Sox was named MVP for his three perfect innings. Clemens threw 24 pitches, 21 of which were strikes. Dodger Fernando Valenzuela was almost as good for the NL. He struck out five in a row, equaling the record of Carl Hubbell in 1934.
