Oakland catcher Terry Steinbach knocked in both runs and earned the MVP award as the AL won 2-1 in Cincinnati. His homer in the third off NL loser Dwight Gooden caromed over the wall off the glove of leaping right fielder Daryl Strawberry. In the fourth his sacrifice fly scored the Yankees' David Winfield.
