Like their running mates before them, both sides in the vice presidential candidates left out some important details Thursday night in jousting over tax cuts in their debate.

Lieberman, Cheney differ on dealing with U.S. foes
Republican Dick Cheney and Democrat Joseph Lieberman Thursday differed -- at least in tone -- on how to tackle U.S. foes in Iraq and Yugoslavia in a vice presidential debate focusing significantly on foreign policy.

It was a studious, courteous debate
The first and only vice presidential showdown was polite, conversational, studious -- perhaps even a bit dull. But neither Republican Dick Cheney or Democrat Joseph Lieberman came here to dazzle voters. Both fulfilled their main role as running mates: Do no harm.
