Testimony of: Pfc. John S. Edwards (Contd)
911 Q Did you see any members of your company in the group of GI's who were there?
A No, sir, I didn't.
912 Q Do you remember any division patches on the shoulders of the men who were there?
A No, sir, that day everybody just looked the same. They were just GI's. Most of us didn't have our patches on.
913 Q Were you anywhere near Lt. Walsh when you started into this camp area?
A No, sir, I don't remember seeing him until a short time after this shooting that I saw him. I came back to the main gate and saw Lt. Walsh and this general from the 42nd was also there, and there were several other officers, first lieutenants, there.
914 Q Had you observed Col. Sparks during the attack on this camp?
A The first I saw him that day was when I was at the main gate when I saw the other officers. Our platoon was the support platoon when we initially attacked the camp, but in the confusion our platoon overran or by-passed the second platoon and when we got to this fence we evidently had gotten ahead of them.
