111 Q Please state your name, rank, organization, and serial number.
A Pfc. William L. Competielle, 42017710, Company "I", 157th Infantry.
(The witness was advised of his rights under the 24th Article of War.)
112 Q What is your job in Company "I"?
A I am a first aid man.
113 Q Do you remember the taking of the concentration camp at Dachau?
A Yes, sir, I do.
114 Q Were you present in the coal yard when some German prisoners were shot?
A I was there when they took them behind the wall, but didn't have the nerve to see what was going on.
115 Q Did you hear it from the outside of the wall?
A I did not hear because at the time a woman and two children fainted and I could not do anything with them, and took them to a hospital that was nearby and got a German doctor to give them some kind of a shot, but that did not help them any because the three of them passed away.
116 Q Who was in charge of the party that took the Germans behind the wall?
A You mean the officer? There was so much excitement that everybody was shouting so you could not tell who the order came from and all I do know was they were separated the SS troops from other prisoners.
117 Q What officers were present?
A I don't know them by name.
