Pat Greenhouse | Biography
Pat Greenhouse joined
the ranks of the Globe Staff in 1990
after several years at the Oakland
Tribune and Merced Sun-Star in
California.
During her career as a
photojournalist, Pat has covered the
gamut: Spot and general news,
features, sports, fashion and politics.
Pat is a committed journalist, due to
her original training as a writer. As
well as taking photos of her subjects,
she reports on them. Some of the subjects in these photos later became
sources for this series. Her professional mission is to contribute to a balanced
representation of the black community in the media and to encourage people
of color to enter the journalism profession. She currently serves as a board
member and photography advisor to the high school journalism program at
UMass Boston.
A Los Angeles native, Pat earned a Bachelor's Degree in journalism from
California State University, Northridge, in 1981. While attending college, she
interned at the Los Angeles Times from 1980 to 1981.
