First Night 2000: The program
United States Courthouse

The new US Courthouse in the Seaport District plays host for the first time to First Night family programs. In addition to the entertaining events listed below, visitors can see justice at work at mock trials and reenactments of famous Supreme Court arguments and closing statements. Admission is free; events run Sat. and Sun. 1-7 p.m. Fireworks at 7 p.m. both nights.

Performance

Boston Children's Theatre
The 10- to 18-year-old winners of the Milestone Moments contest have their plays put on by their peers.
Sat. and Sun. 2-2:45 p.m., 3:30-4:15 p.m., 5-5:45 p.m. Courthouse: Courtroom

Michael Cooper
Endowed with multiple heads, numerous noses, and a wicked sense of humor, this performance artist specializes in surprises.
Sun. 2:30-3:15 p.m., 4-4:45 p.m., 5:15-6 p.m. Courthouse: Mainstage in Atrium

Dinner Dogs
This trio of chefs serves up music, not food. It ranges from reggae to rock to folk - and the audience is pulled into the act.

The Suspenders
This trio's vaudeville show features slapstick comedy, skits, and audience participation.

Zucchini Brothers
Zany trio of musicians.
Sat. 2-2:45 p.m., 3:30-4:15 p.m. Courthouse: Jury Assembly Room

Strolling acts

Unless otherwise noted, look for them at the courthouse on Sat. and Sun. from 1-7 p.m. - and be prepared to get in on the act.

Michael Cooney
Billed as a one-man folk festival, he performs songs and tells the stories behind them. He also serves as emcee for the roving performers.
Sat. 1-6 p.m. Sun. 1-6 p.m.

Bobarino Gravittini
Juggling, acrobatics.

Bozoris & Jakester
Magic, music, juggling, and stilting.

Davey the Clown
A jokester, juggler, unicyclist, and accordionist.

Jenny the Juggler
Clown charms all ages.

Marvelous Marvin
A stiltwalker, juggler, and slapstick artist.

Peter Gross
He's a stuffed animal trainer. Need we say more?

Peter Panic
Trickster with knack for juggling soccer balls.

Rami Salami
The king of balloon twisters.

Trickster Fox
Mix of circus arts, humor.
