Get directions

High end: Large ceramic vessels with painterly finishes that would look perfect beside a fireplace. Made by Marilyn and Philip Garnick, they sell for $475.

Low end: Spinny the wind-up toy, a little metal fellow who rushes around on four tiny legs. $9.95.

Gift you probably won't find anywhere else: Jeweler Shannon Laitala of Jamaica Plain hand-crochets fine silver wire into delicate, sparkling nets containing beads and stones. Necklaces run close to $200; bracelets, $104; earrings, $42.

For the businessman who has enough ties: A hand-inlaid, polished wood business card container by artisans Davin and Kessler for $28. (If he's a sushi fan, Davin and Kessler make an elegant sushi board and chopsticks from bird's-eye maple and coco bolo. The sushi board is $74; the chopsticks are $18.50.)
